I’m sorry in advance for ruining your day but ABC has made the “brutal decision” to axe fan-favourite murder mystery, How To Get Away With Murder after six glorious seasons.
ABC Entertainment announced the devastating news in a press release this morning, with series creator and executive producer Pete Nowalk agreeing it was time the show came to an end.
“Deciding to end this series was a brutal decision, but ultimately the story tells you what to do — as it did here,” he said in a statement. “For me, Annalise Keating’s journey has always had a clear ending. Knowing I have 15 episodes left to finish her story, and the chance to give all the characters their own killer endings’ is a rare gift.”
“The only reason this show exists is because of [the fans’] loyalty and enthusiasm,” he added. “I can’t wait for you all to see how it ends, with twists and turns and all the craziness we love to create every Thursday night. Buckle up.”
How To Get Away With Murder is not your average murder mystery. The jaw-dropping series follows brilliantly cunning criminal defence attorney Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and five of her university students who somehow wind up in the middle of, like, 10 murders over the course of the six seasons. No doubt one of the most gripping shows we’ve seen to date, the unexpected twists and turns are what make the show so great.
