When famous British director Danny Boyle unexpectedly quit the James Bond franchise on August 21, due to “creative differences,” die hard 007 fans were left shocked.

The Oscar winning director was set to work alongside Trainspotting writer John Hodge, however, in a Twitter statement on the official James Bond page, directors Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli revealed that the Slumdog Millionaire producer dropped out of directing the film as those working on the film, including Daniel Craig, were keen to kill off bond in a “spectacular finale.”

Boyle allegedly claimed the idea of killing off the secret agent “ridiculous.” It has also been reported that there were clashes over budget, with production staff fleeing after executive decisions that they did not agree with.

While Boyle’s departure from the highly anticipated 25th official Bond film—which was set to commence filming on December 3 and was his first Bond film—comes as a shock to some, in 2013 Boyle told BBC News that “he wouldn’t be the right kind of person” to direct Bond as he says, “I’m not very good with huge amounts of money.”

At this point in time, it is unknown who will now direct the film which is expected to be released in November 2019 and a source close to the director has said there are fears the film will be delayed as a result of this issue.
