Here are some of the most well-renowned stars in the entertainment industry who are yet to add a gold trophy to their cabinet
Samuel L. Jackson
Despite appearing in over 125 films and presenting the award for Best Adapted Screenplay at this year’s Oscars, the talented star has never snagged an Oscar. He was, however, nominated for his role in the hit 1995 flick, Pulp Fiction. Jackson played hard core assassin Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino’s film alongside Uma Thurman and John Travolta.
Johnny Depp
One of the most versatile actors in Hollywood, Depp is adept at transforming his face, and voice, for any role! Despite being nominated for his incredible portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Depp missed out on scoring an Oscar. He was also nominated for Finding Neverland, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Woody Harrelson
He rose to fame after appearing in the popular TV series Cheers. And despite his impressive set of acting skills, Harrelson has missed out on three Oscar wins. Last year, Harrelson was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, however, didn’t take home gold.
Tom Cruise
Although Pitt scored an Academy Award for producing 12 Years a Slave in 2014, he is yet to win an Oscar for his acting. Shocking, I know! He has, however, been nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
and twice for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Let’s be real though, he deserved to take home gold for his stellar performance in Jerry Maguire.
Laura Dern
In 1992, Dern, who starred in Rambling Rose, lost out to Jodie Foster who won an Oscar for her role in The Silence of the Lambs. The Big Little Lies star was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 2015 for her role in Wild.
Bradley Cooper
The beloved actor-turned-director was tipped to win an Oscar this year for his role in A Star is Born, however, he lost out to Bohemian Rhapsody star, Rami Malek. In previous years, Cooper was also nominated for Silver Linings Playbook, American Sniper, and American Hustle.
Will Smith
Despite winning five Golden Globes and four Grammy Awards, Will Smith is yet to take home an Oscar. The star, who received a nomination for The Pursuit of Happyness and Ali, has since decided to boycott the awards show arguing that actors of colour continuously go unnoticed.
