The press notes for this season say you are outspoken and competitive. Yet you were among the first to be let go. What happened?

I was really amused when I was labelled as competitive — I think I’m the least competitive person out there! In fact, when Richie first came and got me to have a chat, I asked him to speak to Janie first because she had been limping around on one foot all night. So I don’t know where that comes from. I’m outspoken when I have something to say. But I didn’t have a lot to say because it seems to be a younger year this year, and I didn’t really feel the need to engage in any of the conversations going on in that respect. And I think the fact that it was not love at first sight for Richie and I made it easier for me to step back and just watch. Which is absolutely what I did.

Well, what do you think Richie didn’t see in you?

His future wife! [Laughs]

What do you wish, if you had stayed on longer, that he would have had the chance to find out about you?

That I’m smart, I suppose. I actually can carry on a conversation. I’ve got an entertaining personality, quick wit, good banter. But again, if I had stayed on, I would have ever only have been in the friend zone. O would have probably taken on an older sister kind of role for Richie. I think we both felt that way.

You weren’t there long… but whom are you tipping to go all the way?

Alex and Nikki. Alex was very emotional all the time around Richie, and I don’t think you can have that kind of emotion and have it be purely one-sided. Watching him interact with Nikki, he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. That was really quite nice. I noticed that.

And whom do you think Richie should avoid at all costs?

It’s not so much about avoiding at all costs… each and every girl is unique in their own way and they’ll be a suitable person for someone in the future. There’s no-one Richie really needs to avoid. They’re obviously painting Keira as the nasty one, but honestly, I think some of her comments are completely valid. So I don’t think she needs to be avoided.

Do you think you should have brought a gimmick? A shoe, a song, a poem…

Look, we were really encouraged to do that but honestly, bringing a present for someone you’ve never met — I would have felt like an absolute creep. I just think that’s weird. So I had nothing in that respect. And if I wasn’t enough on my own, then I’m obviously not the right person for him.

Speaking of gimmicks and shoes, what’s going on with Janie?

Ohhh… bless her. Look, she’s not that high on life off camera, I guess, but she’s a sweet girl and she obviously works with children on a daily basis and dresses up in her Disney character costume so it would be quite fitting for her to find her Prince Charming. But I don’t believe that Richie is it.

And what was with Sasha eating her rose during the ceremony?

I think it’s a Russian thing. Don’t they make jam out of rose petals? And it was very, very late to be fair. There probably could have been some sugar on the roses. Maybe she was getting energy out of it.
