She has been accused of putting up walls, of staying guarded, of not opening up enough to Richie Strahan during her time in the mansion. And it seems that Bachelor contestant Olena Khamula may have had the same problem with her fellow contestants.

Khamula tells WHO that it was actually an intruder—namely Steph— who ended up being “my shoulder to cry on. She really helped me throughout the process. If she wasn’t there, I probably would have cried more.”

It was not exactly an instant friendship, though. “We didn’t trust each other straightaway,” Khamula says. “But once we started talking, we couldn’t stop. We were just telling each other our deepest, darkest secrets.”

Prior to Steph’s shock arrival, “I couldn’t really open up,” says Khamula. “I didn’t talk. It was an intimidating situation. Once she arrived, I came out of my shell.”

As for the other girls who remain? Kahmula calls Alex Nation “an amazing girl … very fun, very outgoing. She’s in it for the right reasons and absolutely loves Richie.” Fiery Rachael Gouvignon has polarised viewers with her blunt asides—and Khamula concurs that “she’s very competitive … not scared to speak her mind. She is very out there, and I was very careful with her. I didn’t get on with her like I did with Steph. Our conversations were simple: do you want coffee? How are you today? They weren’t deep. We’re just two very different people!”
