After months of watching the farmers kiss, date, and choose their ladies, the reunion episode that aired on Sunday, August 2, finally revealed whether they all stayed together after the cameras stopped rolling.
Farmer Wants A Wife is the country’s most successful dating reality TV show, and the success carried over to this season, with four out of the five couples still together when host Natalie Gruzlewski caught up with them back in January.
However, Alex and Eddy had already gone their separate ways by then, and we watched their first reunion post-breakup on Sunday night.
Just like any encounter with an ex, it was awkward.
The lawyer broke up with the mushroom farmer just weeks after the show wrapped (with the short time frame a contentious topic between the pair) after claiming he was more “intense” than she thought he was, and their differing religious beliefs became an apparent deal-breaker.
While she seemed content with her decision, Alex was visibly upset by it and peppered her with questions.
He expressed that she hadn’t tried hard enough to make the relationship work, and said calling it quits after only a few weeks wasn’t fair on him or their shared experience on the show.
The interaction was an uncomfortable watch — for us at home and those in the room — with Eddy telling WHO she felt “attacked”, and that producers and Natalie stepped in to defend her.
‘You need to back off a bit, Alex’
Eddy said she was “in shock” by Alex’s behaviour during the reunion.
“I was really taken aback when he just started attacking me in front of everyone and on TV,” she told WHO.
“I went in knowing that I was going to be respectful and kind, and I assumed that, at least while the cameras were rolling, Alex was going to show me the same kindness and respect.
“I had no way to prepare for that either, and I just think once I got into the situation, I was just in shock,” she said.
Eddy claims that people in the room stepped in and advocated for her when things got heated.
“The producers and the host Nat, they stood up for me and like intervened during points, and – it was just, yeah, thank goodness for them doing that, because I felt at times I couldn’t stand up for myself, and they were like, ‘Hey, you need to back off a bit, Alex’.”
After speaking about their relationship, the pair joined the other contestants and sat beside one another.
Eddy now has a new partner
Eddy confirmed to WHO that she now has a new partner after paparazzi pictures of the pair surfaced last month.
Her new beau is reportedly named Matthis, who she allegedly met through a mutual friend.
When it comes to Alex and his relationship status, there is no indication he has met someone new, but of course, you never know.
