Fiona Falkiner and Hayley Willis have shared their hopes for their son, Hunter, and any future kids they might have at the Women’s Weekly Women of the Future Awards today.
“We’ve got a son, but I hope we’ll have a little girl one day that will be a woman of the future,” Hayley said.
“We’ll obviously raise him with the qualities of respect and embracing women,” she said of their baby boy.
“We will raise our son with two very strong mothers so I’m sure he will celebrate women as well,” Fiona added.
The dedicated mums took the afternoon off from parenting in order to attend the star-studded event in Sydney today.
“It’s an amazing feeling that we can celebrate each other (at the event), and we all deserve to be celebrated – especially after the last two years,” Fiona said.
“Everyone’s been trying to keep doing what they’re doing, even if we can’t be out in public doing it. There have been some incredible women doing incredible things even if the world has been in isolation.”
Together, Hayley and Fiona make for one striking couple.
They’ve been very open about their struggle through IVF in order to become pregnant with Hunter, who was born in March this year after a long journey towards motherhood.
“For 2 years you were a dream, over 9 months we watched you grow. In a second you stole our hearts, and showed us a love we did not know 💙,” Fiona wrote on Instagram when she celebrated his arrival.
“Introducing Hunter William Falkiner. Born 22.3.2021. 3.3kgs of baby gold. Mummy Fee & Bub are doing fantastic,” she penned.
These days, Hayley is best-known for her work in the influencer and modelling space and is prolific on Instagram when it comes to discussing her health, fitness, body inclusivity and life as a new mum.
However, she got her start when she competed on The Biggest Loser in 2006.
She met Hayley in 2018, when Hayley spotted a picture of Fiona on Instagram, and very confidently just sent a message asking her out.
Hayley, who worked as a sports journalist at the time, eventually secured her date, and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
They became engaged in 2019, and got to work with IVF, with Fiona finally falling pregnant with Hunter in mid-2020.
Hayley also plans to carry a baby for the couple.
“Fi is going first because she is older. I really want to carry a bub too but Fi will go first just because of the body clock on fertility, so her going first is best,” she told The Daily Telegraph in August last year.
“I will give it a crack after we have our first child,” she confirmed.
