It’s been six years since the world fell in love with the snowy musical extravaganza that is Disney’s Frozen.
Finally, Disney has given us a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning animation.
Check out the official teaser trailer for Frozen 2 below!
The new trailer revealed that Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff will return to voice their respective characters.
According to IMDb, Frozen 2 will see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave their home of Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land as they set out to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.
“Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom,” read the caption of the video.
Disney has also released several stills for Frozen II, which appears to be slightly darker than the prequel.
One of the most terrifying moments in the trailer is when Elsa comes face to face with a horse-like figure underwater.
Many of the loveable characters will return for the new Frozen film, including Kristoff’s love experts who appear in the trailer.
We see Pabbie give a warning to Anna regarding Elsa’s powers, concerned that they might be too strong. Now, with a new threat to the kingdom, the troll is afraid her powers might not be strong enough.
It’s no secret that the Disney film – which was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s, The Snow Queen, – has a gigantic fanbase, with the trailer breaking the record for the most viewed animation trailer of all time.
“Thank you to the fans around the world for making the teaser trailer for #Frozen2 the most viewed animation trailer of all time, with a record-breaking 116.4 million views in 24 hours,” said Disney’s Frozen II twitter account.
Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the original film is the highest-grossing animated and musical film of all time and the ninth highest-grossing film of all time with a worldwide box office gross of $1.097 billion.
The signature song, “Let it Go” – written by partners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and sung by Idina Menzel – was the first song from a Disney animated musical to reach the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 since 1995 (when Vanessa L. Williams’ “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas peaked at number four on the chart).
Frozen 2 will be theatres this November.
