What happens in Run Away?
Simon Greene (James Nesbitt) once had a stable life, but everything changes when his eldest daughter, Paige (Ellie de Lange), goes missing after struggling with drug addiction.
When Simon finally finds her in a city park, vulnerable and strung out, he rushes to bring her home. But a confrontation with Paige’s friend spirals into shocking violence, leaving Simon to face the unbearable reality of losing his daughter once more.
Determined to find Paige, Simon crosses paths with:
- Elena Ravenscroft (Ruth Jones), a private investigator searching for her own missing person case.
- Cornelius Faber (Lucian Msamati), Paige’s former neighbor who has taken on a protective role.
- Detectives Isaac Fagbenle (Alfred Enoch) and Ruby Todd (Amy Gledhill), who suspect Simon might be involved in a murder.
Even Simon’s family, wife Ingrid (Minnie Driver), son Sam (Adrian Greensmith), and sister-in-law Yvonne (Ingrid Oliver) harbor secrets that could upend everything.
On his quest to rescue Paige, Simon uncovers truths that threaten to destroy his world entirely.

James Nesbitt as Simon Greene
Simon is a devoted father and husband whose life unravels after Paige disappears. His situation worsens when he becomes a suspect in a murder investigation.
Simon must navigate a web of deception while trying to bring his daughter home.
“Simon is flawed, angry, kind, doesn’t necessarily stop and think,” Nesbitt tells Netflix. “Those are interesting characteristics to identify and play. But, ultimately, I would describe him as a parent- a father.”
James reviously starred in The Missing and Cold Feet.
Ruth Jones as Elena Ravenscroft
Elena is a former police officer turned private investigator, hired to locate a wealthy man’s missing son, Henry. Along the way, she uncovers a series of murders linked to him. Elena’s own life is full of secrets, including unresolved questions about her late husband.
“I’ve never played anyone like her before,” says Jones. “I love her quirkiness and the fact she’s quite difficult to read, very unpredictable. She’s very calm in a crisis and hyper intelligent- she thinks very laterally. But I also love her warmth and empathy.”

Minnie Driver as Ingrid Greene
Ingrid is a pediatrician trying to maintain a perfect family life. Paige’s drug addiction and disappearance push her to her limits, revealing hidden vulnerabilities and forcing her to confront long-buried truths.
“This incredibly deep love between Ingrid and Paige has literally been ripped apart by addiction,” Driver explains. “When I read it, Ingrid felt quite cold. She holds this incredibly strong line.”
