These leading ladies have earnt their spot as some of the best and highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
Sofia Vergara – Modern Family
Modern Family star Sofia Vergara has been the highest paid television actress for the past six years. Last year, Forbes discovered that Vergara made a whopping $41.5 million in 2017, which is $15.5 million more than the highest paid film actress, Emma Stone. Vergara’s wealth also comes from her licensing deals with SharkNinka Coffee, Rooms to Go as well as her own perfume line.
Kaley Cuoco – The Big Bang Theory
American actress Kaley Cuoco gained a cult following when she landed the role of Penny in the hit CBS series, The Big Bang Theory. Cuoco is said to earn $1 million per episode and has done so for more than three seasons. In 2017, it was reported the five original cast members who were all on the same pay package took a pay cut to help their co-stars who play Amy and Bernadette get equal pay. The extra $500,000 was put towards their new salaries.
Mindy Kaling – The Mindy Project
Mindy Kaling generated a $13 million income all thanks to the popular series The Mindy Project which she wrote, produced and starred has branched out, featuring in films like A Wrinkle in Time and Oceans 8. She also created new SNC show titled Champions which was released in March 2018.
Ellen Pompeo – Grey’s Anatomy
The majority of Pompeo’s earnings come from the hit series Grey’s Anatomy. She plays leading lady, experienced surgeon Meredith Grey. Earlier this year, Pompeo – who is said to make $575 thousand per episode – negotiated with producers for a pay rise and encouraged women all around the world to do the same! “A guy wouldn’t have any problem asking for $600,000 an episode. And as women, we’re like, ‘Oh, can I ask for that? Is that OK? Am I being greedy? But when your face and your voice have been part of something that’s generated $3 billion for one of the biggest corporations in the world, you start to feel like, ‘OK, maybe I do deserve a piece of this.” In January, the actress was heralded as “TV’s $20 million-dollar woman” and credits series creator Shonda Rhimes for helping her see her value.
Mariska Hargitay – Law and Order: SVU
Star of the Dick Wolf produced mega series Law and Order: SVU, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, has racked up a major income from the hit 18 season series. As one of the few remaining cast members since it debuted in 1999, Hargitay – who also serves as an executive producer of the show – is said to make about $450,000 per episode. Earlier this year, Forbes estimated her net worth would be around $45 million. Part of that is said to be from syndicates.
