Miley Cyrus wrapped up 2019 still reeling from the end of her decade-long on-off relationship with Liam Hemsworth and recovering from vocal cord surgery.

On December 23 – what would have been her first wedding anniversary with Hemsworth – she was all about self-care.
“I think it is super important for everyone to truly enjoy themselves,” she posted to Instagram, advising her 105 million Instagram followers to: “Take
time off, relax … KEEP MOVING!”
Forward-motion has been a mantra for the 27-year-old, who has embraced the new decade head on. She’s found love with Australian singer Cody Simpson, is back in the studio working on her seventh studio album, She is Miley Cyrus, and has thrown herself into causes close to her heart.
It was one of these – her love for animals – that led Cyrus to sign on to headline a bushfire relief charity concert in Melbourne on March 13, to raise money for the WWF Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal.
Sadly, the star cancelled her appearance three days before she was due to perform due to ongoing coronavirus fears, telling Twitter followers she was “so disappointed not to be there.”

“I have a personal connection to that sense of loss and displacement,” the popstar, who lost the home she shared with Hemsworth in the Malibu fires of 2018, told The Sydney Morning Herald. “I didn’t lose any of my animals, we were able to successfully get them out of our farm, but not everyone’s been as fortunate in Australia.”
Cyrus’ love for Australia is on record, too. She often visited Hemsworth’s home-turf of Phillip Island, Victoria, as well as holiday hotspots such as Byron Bay.
“I’ve spent the last 10 or 12 years really considering Australia a second home,” she also told the paper. “I’ve always felt really attached to it; it felt like Nashville but with beautiful beaches.”
She even sports a Vegemite tattoo on her upper arm and has made no secret of her taste for Australian men. Soon after making her romance with Simpson public, she listed his stats on Instagram Stories.
“22 [check] Australian (my type) [check] Abs [check],” she wrote over a photo of her beau – shirtless – adding “Hot Girl Fall [check].”

Their relationship seems to have only gone from strength to strength. Since they were first spotted kissing on a breakfast date on October 3, the loved-up pair have barely come up for air, packing on the PDA while on dates and sharing body-baring (and at times NSFW) snaps on social media.
The surest sign Cyrus has moved on from her ex-husband? A run-in with him at a pre-Oscars party on February 8 that left the star unflustered.

“The party was packed and it wasn’t awkward for Miley that Liam was there,” a source told WHO at the time. “Liam is her past and Miley is focused on the future. She had great years with Liam and has no regrets. She feels it was all meant to be. Now she has moved on to other great things. She is very happy with Cody and that’s her focus.”
And it seems the duo are looking to the future, with Simpson hinting he’s keen to settle down. “I would like to return [to] Australia for sure,” he told The Sunday Telegraph on March 1. “LA makes a lot of sense for me for work but I will always be an Aussie.”
And with the young star admitting that he would “absolutely” like to raise a family Down Under, we may just see more of the couple in the years to come …
