Jared Leto will play the late Hugh Hefner in a new biopic.
The Oscar winning actor will don Hefner’s iconic silk robe and pyjamas for a film on the Playboy founder’s life, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The biopic will be directed by Brett Ratner who has directed works including X-Men: The Last Stand, the Rush Hour movie and New York, I Love You.
He also produced films including The Revenant starring Leonard DiCaprio and Horrible Bosses.
“Jared is an old friend,” Ratner told THR. “When he heard I got the rights to Hef’s story, he told me, ‘I want to play him. I want to understand him.’ And I really believe Jared can do it. He’s one of the great actors of today.”
The Suicide Squad actor was invited to a Playboy mansion event in April, however was not able to meet Hefner due to his failing health.
Hefner passed away last week at age 91.
