Remember in Suits before everyone knew Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) wasn’t a lawyer and there was the ever-present fear he’d get caught out? New SBS drama Trust Me is like the medical version of that (watch the trailer below).

In Trust Me, Sheffield nurse Cath Hardacre (Doctor Who‘s Jodie Whittaker) lies about being a doctor, pretending to be her friend Dr Alison Sutton (Andrea Lowe) and taking a job in Edinburgh, where no one could possibly uncover the truth, right? She’s even got her young daughter trained to tell fibs.

It’s best to set aside your incredulity at why someone would do something so patently absurd and dive straight into Trust Me’s simmering tension – will Cath’s duplicity be found out and can she actually do the job of a doctor in a busy A&E? Sure, she has plenty of medical know-how thanks to her time as a nurse, but this is a whole different ball game. (Starts Thu., Feb. 28 at 9.30pm; SBS) 3.5 stars
