Earlier this summer Iris Law, the 15-year-old daughter of Jude Law and his ex-wife Sadie Frost, debuted her first big modeling gig for the British brand Illustrated People. Now, just a few weeks later, she landed a big editorial in Teen Vogue!
The up-and-comer is featured in the magazine’s September issue, which centers around the theme “#ForGirlsByGirls.” They tapped the teen because she represents someone who is juggling multiple gigs (modeling, photography and painting) while also developing a personal style that stands out from her peers. (She’s not one to follow the choker brigade.)
Law credits Miu Miu, Gucci and Chanel as her favorite brands saying, “I really like vintage blouses with feminine lace detailing — I’ll usually wear them with black trousers and trainers. I also usually have rings on every finger apart from the thumb. Most birthdays or Christmases my dad will get me a ring from Annina Vogel.”
But it’s not just her famous father supplying her style savvy wardrobe. Iris credits her mom — actress, producer and fashion designer Sadie Frost — for sparking her passion for fashion.
“I like looking at pictures of my mom when she was around my age and seeing her makeup and little dresses,” she says. “I was always really interested in what she was wearing growing up and did quite creative things with how I dressed myself.”
As for her artistic endeavors, she has a very specific creative process. “I’ll shoot someone, usually a friend, and then I’ll base a very intricate oil painting off of that picture,” she tells the magazine. “I aim to show the realness of a person and really capture them as an individual — I like painting eyes and veins under the skin.”
Her future plans include attending an art college, getting into video art and she even entertains the idea of starting a magazine. “I’ll figure it out one day, when I have time. I’m only 15!”
So how does she feel about her first major magazine spread? “My Teen Vogue shoot was the first one I’ve done where I had multiple looks,” says Law. “There were a lot of clashing fabrics and designs and the backdrops were quite full-on. It was chaotic, but in a good way. I liked it.”
Looks like we’ll be seeing much more from her to come.
