Lady Gaga is known for making a scene wherever she goes. But the Bad Romance singer revealed more than she intended when she suffered an awkward wardrobe function in Venice.
Keen to make a grand entrance, Gaga caught a water taxi to the Venice Film Festival to promote her film, A Star Is Born. The 32-year-old wore a black bustier dress as high heels as she dangled her legs over the edge of the boat.
Clutching a red rose, Gaga blew kisses to fans as the boat she was on floated to the festival alongside her boyfriend, Christian Carino. But things went awry when Gaga moved from boat to dry land when the singer-actress accidentally flashed her undies at photographers.
Gaga caused a sensation when she famously arrived at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in a dress made of raw meat. She’s in Venice for the world premiere of her musical film, A Star is Born. It’s a remake of the 1976 rock musical of the same name starring Barbra Streisand and marks Gaga’s feature film debut.
In the film, Gaga stars as Ally, an aspiring singer, alongside Bradley Cooper, who also made his directorial debut. The film has been getting rave reviews, with Variety calling it “stunning”. The Guardian praised Gaga’s performance, calling her “sensationally good”.
“(Lady Gaga’s ability) to be part ordinary person, part extraterrestrial celebrity empress functions at the highest level at all times,” The Guardian said.
Speaking to reporters at the premiere, Gaga gushed about her co-star, Cooper.
“It’s a story about love and about what Bradley refers to as the human plight of addiction,” she said. “It was a remarkable experience for me.
“He’s such an amazing singer — he sings from his gut, from the nectar, from his soul.”
A Star Is Born opens in Australia on October 18.
