Lana Del Rey is back, minus her signature eyeliner but with her renowned melancholy sound showcased in new EP Mariners Apartment Complex.
Del Rey contemplates two of her favourite topics, sorrow and love. “I’m the board, the lightning, the thunder/ Kind of girl who’s gonna make you wonder/ Who you are and who you’ve been,” she sings.
“And who I’ve been is with you on these beaches/ Your Venice bitch, your diehard, your weakness/ Maybe I could save you from your sins.”
Definitely not a tune for sensitive listeners, but nonetheless every bit the epically tragic storytelling with an elaborate sound of the piano and acoustic guitar.

And if the mysterious songstress’ Instagram posts are anything to go by, we can expect a follow-up EP sometime this week. “Two end of summer jams for ya out next week…The first is called Mariners Apartment Complex,” the 33-year-old wrote on September 8th.
So stay tuned!
