Speaking on podcast Life Uncut which she co-hosts with Brittany Hockley, the season five Bachelor winner confessed that she’d recently been dealing with some “pretty hectic mum guilt”, so much so that moments before they recorded the episode, she “rocked up at Britt’s house in tears”.
“I sometimes have parental guilt which I’ve been having really bad last the little bit,” Laura, who shares daughters Marlie-Mae and Lola with fiance Matty J, said.
“Marlie has been sick this weekend, Lola has conjunctivitis and I’ve just been kicked sideways from the whole parenting thing. It’s funny because I get a lot of people who message me and they’re like ‘How do you manage to do it all?’ and the truth is I don’t.
“Some days are great and some days I feel like I’m kicking goals and then I have weekends like this weekend just past and I feel like a really really sh*tty mum.”
Laura added that even though she recently spent six days alone with the kids whilst Matt was in Hamilton Island, she still felt guilty for leaving Marlie and Lola at home at home to record the podcast.
“I’m not a bad mum by leaving them at home for two hours to do this record but I feel like a bad mum and I feel like I’m doing a sh*tty job and I just want to be home with my girls,” she said.
“I’m not justifying that to myself, I’m actually justifying that to people who are listening who might go ‘You are a bad mum for leaving your kids at home when they’re not well’. I think anybody who has kids knows how you go through these throes – some days you really feel like you’re nailing it and other days you really feel like ‘Wow maybe I’m not so good at this whole parenting thing.'”
The mum-of-two added: “Maybe it’s important, maybe having this doubt and having this sort of imposter syndrome when it comes to being a mum makes us be better mums in the long-run.”

In a chat with WHO back in May just three months after Lola’s arrival, both Laura and Matt confessed that they’re “fly by the seat of our pants” parents.
“I cannot remember the last time I got a full night sleep – actually, I haven’t had a full night sleep in three months, let’s be real,” Laura laughed.
That said, the jewellery designer loves having a new bub in the house.
“I really enjoy the newborn phase, I know that it’s not for everyone, but there’s parts of it that I absolutely really love,” Laura remarked.
“And Marlie is just so obsessed with her sister now and it’s such a beautiful thing to see.”
Though parenting has its challenges, Laura recently told fans she’s keen to expand their little family.
In an Instagram Q&A, the Bachelor star was asked if she would like more kids in the future to which she replied: “I’m a maniac…yes!”
Laura and Matt, who got engaged in 2019, are set to tie the knot at the end of this year with their girls by their side.
So much more excitement to come!
