Maddison Brown is one of the hottest young Australian actors in Hollywood right now.

At just 22, the Sydney-born beauty stars in the hit series Dynasty as Kirby Anders and is believed to be dating fellow Australian star Liam Hemsworth.
With more than 18 years in the industry, it’s no mistake that the young actress’ star is so rapidly on the rise. After landing her first role at 4, Brown tells WHO she eventually decided to leave school to pursue her dream career in the entertainment industry.
“I’m a high school dropout,” she admits, laughing. “I didn’t finish year 12! I went to New York and started modelling.
“It was really hard, and I just felt like I knew school wasn’t the path, but it was very scary leaving. I was 16 and I sort of took my own future into my own hands and it was a lot of pressure.”
Given her entrance into the adult world at such a young age, you could be forgiven for assuming Brown has a rebellious past, but, on the contrary, the Longines ambassador describes herself as “a sassy nerd”.
“I’m very type A and always at home doing my own thing and just being normal,” she says. Moving overseas, Brown’s feet stayed firmly on the ground, as she says, “I kept my wits about me”.
“I think about that often and just how close I came to … how many people around me were involved in [partying] and it was just so over my head the whole time,” she says.
“I don’t know how. I had a guardian angel on my shoulder, I swear. I’ve never been into that. I guess I don’t believe in the phrase ‘bad influence’, because if you’re strong enough in your own resolve, no-one can really influence you one way or another.”
It’s a strong contrast to Hemsworth’s estranged wife, Miley Cyrus, who is renowned for her partying ways.
While Brown didn’t want to address the subject and confirm whether she’s dating 29-year-old Hemsworth – rumours began after they were photographed kissing in New York in October – she is philosophical about the role fame plays in her life.
“I’ve always viewed fame as a by-product of gaining success in this industry,” she says. “It’s sort of par for the course that if you become more successful, more people are seeing you, more people feel like they know you, can relate to you and invest in your personal life and that’s fame basically. It really is just a part of the job.”
Brown recently spent Thanksgiving in Atlanta, Georgia, where Dynasty is filmed, with her co-star, Elizabeth Gillies, who plays Fallon Carrington.
“We’re all like this little family, it’s really cool, it’s a really nice dynamic,” she says.
Having entered the industry at such a young age, Brown is already looking past her role of Dynasty, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman by creating her own production house.
“I would love to get myself into a position where I can produce my own projects and pursue my own creative endeavours,” she says.
Arriving home in Sydney in early December to launch the new Longines Conquest Classic timepiece, Brown will be in Australia until early next year, fuelling speculation she will head to Byron Bay at some stage to spend time with the Hemsworths.
“I’ve got a lot of time off work so I’m really happy I’m home,” she says. “It’s actually the longest chunk of time I’ve spent at home since I got the show.”
