It seems like 2026 bride Bec Zacharia can’t catch a break in this year’s series of Married At First Sight Australia.
First we saw fellow bride Gia Fleur label her a “5”, and then her new husband, Danny Hewitt, saying he sees her as more of a friend… ouch.
But what is it about Bec’s latest confession that has seen fans support for her divide? Let’s recap:
Danny’s red flag vows
Bec and Danny tied the knot on on Wednesday, February 4, and his vows left Bec in floods of tears… and not in a good way.
In his speech he said: “I’m looking for a Bonnie and Clyde type of love. With that being said, if I ever get locked up in prison, I’d like you to bail me out,” I think he may have stole that line from Shakespeare!
While Danny’s side of the room burst into laughter, Bec was left looking shocked and admitted she has no intention of being with a “party boy.”

“He made mention in his vows of ‘if he gets arrested’, I know I can be quite wild and fun, but I really want to settle down, so it makes me worry. I want to be matched with someone who is serious about being with their forever person, not someone that’s out, getting hammered, acting a fool to the point of getting arrested,” she told producers.
This moment left viewers feeling sorry for the new bride, but happy she stuck up for herself and shared her feelings. However, that quickly changed.
Bec’s sudden U-turn
Bec’s opinion of Danny began to change at their wedding reception, where the pair got to spend more time together and he impressed her family and friends.
“I feel bad, I thought you were a party animal, but you’ve really changed my mind, so I’m sorry,” she confessed to her new husband.

Her feelings on him changed so much that they even ended up sleeping together on the first night of their honeymoon. A decision many viewers have branded as “hasty.”
One user took to Reddit, saying: “Wtf Bec, calm down. You’ve known him 2 days,” however, a second disagreed saying: “I dislike Bec but also not keen on some comments in the live thread basically shaming her for having sex early and that she should’ve waited. Some couples have sex early and it works out and some don’t. Some wait and it still doesn’t work out…”
Danny’s cruel comments
Following their intimate night, Danny told Bec and the experts that he “didn’t feel any chemistry” with his new wife, and that he sees her as more of a “friend.”

Bec has been open throughout the series about her struggles with body image following a recent significant weight loss, and admitted that Danny’s comments saw her take a “step back” in her self-love.
Through tears, Bec said in a confessional, “It’s just really hard to face that, feeling undesired. That’s how I feel, I feel unattractive, I don’t want to feel that way.”
