There’s always one person on Married At First Sight who wants the ultimate fairytale, with all the traditional trimmings.
This season, it’s Mel Akbay, who, at 28, is feeling like she’s running out of time to find her husband.
While she wanted a Bradley Cooper lookalike to meet her at the end of the aisle, Mel’s match with groom Luke Fourniotis hasn’t been smooth sailing.
Who is Mel Akbay?
Though she grew up in Canberra, Mel now lives in Sydney and works as a public servant.
She’s been enjoying single life for the last six years but as she approaches 30, she’s ready to follow in her friends’ footsteps and settle down.
The only downside is that the guys in her age bracket aren’t on the same page.
Described as bubbly, funny and cute, we bet she’s a catch but she’s not one to get on the wrong side of.
“She’s super loyal,” a friend shared, as per So Dramatic, “but if you cross her, you’ll know about it.”
Mel’s Mr Right
Now that she’s ready for marriage and babies, Mel has a certain type of man in mind.
Whilst she admits she can be picky, the 28-year-old is just after her own fairytale. Translated, a ‘blue’ man for her ‘pink’ self with the perfect wedding, husband and married life.
However when her groom was late to their wedding day, Mel wasn’t impressed and the MAFS marriage just seems to be going from worse to worse.
Are Mel and Luke still together?
The short answer appears to be no.
Luke forgot the wedding rings but despite his apologies, Mel felt like the relationship was off to a bad start.
“This is such a big event in someone’s life. How do you mess it up like that? It feels a bit ruined. But I will give him a chance,” she said.
Ahead of the first dinner party, Mel expressed her excitement at talking to someone other than Luke but admitted she hadn’t given him a chance as he was trying so hard to make things work.
But she doubled down as Revelations Week kicked off and told Luke about her lack of attraction towards him.
