Married At First Sight’s Susan and Sean are the couple who won over Australia’s hearts from the beginning, but it turns out their relationship wasn’t what the cameras made it out to be.

Susan has revealed to news.com.au that the Queensland farmer isn’t the man viewers think he is.

The 37-year-old truck driver admitted that she “wanted to leave half way through” the experiment.

“His kids were crying to him on Skype: ‘Please come home daddy, we don’t really know why you’re away for so long’. And I said, ‘No, you need to go, we’re just friends, you need to go’. And he’s like, ‘Nah, I need the money, I’m going to New Zealand in April on my first overseas trip ever. I need some spending money,'” she recounted.

Contestants were reportedly paid $200 per day whilst filming the series.

“Because we were friends — we weren’t sleeping together, no matter what people thought — I felt, like, OK why not?” Susan said about her decision to stay.

“I thought, he is a good guy, he did stand up for what was right — on camera — he is a completely different person off camera.”

With the couple deciding they’d “give it a go as friends” following the vow renewal ceremony, Susan revealed that Sean continually pushed back on any plans.

“I was completely ready,” she said. “And his exact response (was), ‘I’m too busy breeding my horses that weekend’. And I went, what? And he said, ‘I’m too busy breeding my horses that break. I’m going to a rodeo on the weekend and I want my horses bread that break and I need to be out there breeding them with the stallions'”.

While continuing to be flexible for the father-of-two, she thought ‘Oh man, this is never gonna work.’

The Perth based bride also slammed the show declaring it’s “completely not true at all.”

“How do they edit this and completely not give a sh*t about people’s lives?” she said. “They don’t give a sh*t about what others think of these people.”

Susan also revealed that producers fed her lines and showed up to her hotel room with a script.

“They read out sentences to me, which I then had to repeat back to the camera,” she recalled.

She said producers also fed the show’s psychologists lines, via ear pieces.

“It’s absolutely fake and excruciating to live through,” she said.

“It’s an absolute sham because we are not talking to the experts and they are not talking with us. They are just pawns in a game.”
