Australia’s favourite acting export, Margot Robbie, has revealed she fears she has already reached her peak when it comes to her career in Hollywood.

The 31-year-old movie star, who is currently doing press for her new film, The Suicide Squad, opened up about her concerns in an interview with Fox.

“Honestly this keeps me up at night, this very question,” Margot responded when asked about whether she feels she might have peaked.

“I feel like I have peaked, and maybe it’s all downhill from here.”

She added: “Maybe I’m at the top and it can’t get any better.

I hope that’s not the case because I still feel like I have a lot to give, and there’s still a lot of directors I want to work with.

“I’m just going to keep climbing as long as I can.”

This fear might seem unfounded to many of Margot’s supporters, especially in Australia, who have seen her go from strength to strength overseas.

After starting her career on the classic Aussie soap, Neighbours, as Donna Freedman, Margot left the show in 2011 to pursue a career overseas.

She burst onto the Hollywood scene in Oscar-nominated film, The Wolf of Wall Street, and has enjoyed an illustrious career ever since.

Although a conventionally beautiful actress, Margot has always chosen challenging roles rather than following the romantic-comedy path.

These choices have led her to Oscar-nominated roles in I, Tonya and Bombshell.

She has also brought historical characters to life, including Tonya Harding, Sharon Tate and Queen Elizabeth I.

Margot has also gained a number of producer credits, and opened her own production company with husband Tom Ackerley, Lucky Chap Productions.

She has production and acting credits on The Suicide Squad, where she stars as the famous comic-book anti-heroine, Harley Quinn.

“In this film, we’re kind of seeing Harley – a more independent Harley,” Margot told Fox.

“She’s kind of cut ties with Mr J [The Joker], it seems. She doesn’t seem to be thinking about him … when we first met her, she had this kind of perceived security because she was in a relationship with him, even though he tried to kill her all the time.”

Margot’s next project, Babylon, will see her star alongside Brad Pitt once more – the pair previously worked together on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Fellow Aussie and Margot’s close friend, Samara Weaving, will also be joining the cast.
