The notoriously private actress divulged that Tom is not a fan of snakes, despite her chilled-out attitude towards them.
Margot appeared on the show alongside fellow Australian actress, Rose Byrne, where the conversation inevitably turned to Americans’ favourite discussion topic about Australia – our wildlife.
“My husband hates snakes – he’s English – and you guys don’t have them at all really, in England,” she said to Corden.
However, Margot grew up in Dalby, a regional town in Queensland, where she became very used to encountering wildlife.
“They’re everywhere – I’m living in LA and there was a two metre snake just in the garden the other day … he almost had a coronary,” she laughed over Tom’s reaction.
Tom apparently asked if they should kill the slithering visitor.
“I was like … no, we don’t kill it, we just gently tell it to go somewhere else,” Margot explained to a shocked Corden.
“I know that you’re amazing, but that’s really too far – what are you, Mrs Doolittle?” he said.
The 30-year-old actress met Tom Ackerley, a British film producer, on the set of Suite Française in 2013.
They married in 2016 in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, and have kept their lives very quiet since.
“I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit,” she said in an interview with Vogue in 2016.
“And then this crept up on me,” she said of Tom.
“I was always in love with him, but I thought ‘oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot.’
“And then it happened, and I was like ‘of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before,” she said.
Together, the pair run the production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which they began with their friends.
