Mark Scrivens hoped to find love when he applied for Married At First Sight. And though his love story with Ning Surasiang didn’t work out, it didn’t take long for him to fall for The Block‘s Bianca Chatfield.
In a very 21st century way, the couple met via Instagram when Bianca, who starred on the Nine renovation show in 2018, slid into his DMs.
“I think my first message to him was ‘I can’t believe you did this show [MAFS],’” Bianca previously told WHO.
“It kind of came from a place of support and sharing the shows and then all of a sudden we’re going ‘This could work!’”
Speaking to the Herald Sun, Mark recalled: “The first time we saw each other was March 31 (2019). We’re really happy.”
During the early days of their relationship, Bianca was keen to keep things private whilst Mark was happy to discuss personal matters.
“I was really conscious about keeping it low-profile for a while until we were both ready whereas Mark is happy to talk about his personal life – he has for so long on TV so it’s no big deal now,” she revealed.
“I think we’d been together for about six months when it started to come out and everyone was really supportive. I’m not a big one to read comments and get caught up in all of that – I’m probably very blissfully unaware of what people really think but in our world people were very supportive and happy for us.”
When the couple, based in Melbourne, were first hit by the pandemic, that was also their cue to move in together.
For two former reality TV stars, you’d expect a bit of drama but Bianca confessed to Woman’s Day that her relationship with Mark is far from difficult.
“It’s the easiest relationship I’ve ever been in,” she told the publication.

In August 2021, the couple announced their exciting next step – a baby due in February 2022.
“So… this is happening!! ❤️” Bianca captioned a photo of herself 17 weeks pregnant cuddling Mark.
“Excited & maybe just a little nervous for all the new adventures 2022 will bring!!!”
Mark shared the same photo, captioning it: “+1 on the way..super excited for 2022 and adding a new member to our little gang.. #duefeb”
