David Cannon and Hayley Vernon have failed to see eye to eye on almost every problem they’ve been faced with since tying the knot on Married At First Sight.
EXCLUSIVE: MAFS’ David BRUTALLY rips into ‘fake’ TV wife Hayley
And while it’s safe to assume they’re perhaps the most terrible match we’ve seen to date, we never expected the truck driver to unleash on his TV bride like this.
In an explosive video diary he recorded after he moved into his own hotel following a nasty fight with Hayley, David absolutely tore into the outspoken bodybuilder, claiming she gave her a number of reasons to question her sobriety throughout the dating experiment.
“Her idea of being a reformed drug addict is her turning around and saying she doesn’t do any hard drugs… but still smokes weed,” David said in the 11-minute clip which was obtained by New Idea exclusively.
“And then she said, ‘I don’t mind having a cheeky line now and again.’ That’s someone who is still an addict. They’ve matched me with a smoking drug addict who is so inconsiderate and rude.”
Refusing to mince his nasty words, the TV star then claimed he “feels sorry” for her father.
“I feel for her father. He seemed like a really nice and genuine guy. He kicked her out once before because she was a drug addict. And I don’t think he’s going to be proud that this is the way his daughter has behaved.”
He continued his rant by revealing the fitness model is not as “squeaky clean” as she appears to be on camera, suggesting he only saw the real Hayley after she’d had a couple of drinks. He also said Hayley plans to use her newfound fame purely to boost her profile.
“It’s all fake,” David said. “All her clothes have brand-new tags on them that were given to her because she told them she would give them a shout-out on Instagram once she gets famous.”
“She keeps a fairly nice face in front of the camera for the most part. But finally we got to see the ugly side of her on camera and it’s not just me being crazy thinking she’s one thing behind closed doors and another thing on camera.”
“I wouldn’t buy the drink at a bar, let alone marry her,” he concluded. “I know she is a horrendous human being and there’s nothing she could say to me to change my mind.”
Hayley has been surprisingly honest about her past battle with drugs, telling her TV husband that her decade battle with substance abuse was absolutely harrowing.
“My teenage years were probably a little bit rougher than most,” Hayley said, adding that she came from a broken home – which, she said, “can make it hard to find yourself as a person”.
“I turned to drugs,” she says, bravely owning every bit of her history. “At the end of the day, it was as simple as that.”
“I was kicked out of home from the age of 17 and I was abusing several substances. This was all I knew for eight or nine years,” she added.”It’s actually the worst thing in the world. It’s crippling.”
“I battled things most women my age could only imagine… homelessness, mental abuse, physical abuse,” the 32-year-old also said during an emotional episode of A Current Affair last week.
