Despite their sexual chemistry, Married At First Sight‘s Jason Engler and Alana Lister couldn’t make things work. But now the TV groom has weighed in on whether there’s a chance he and his ex could ever reconcile.

On Monday, Jason, 35, answered fans’ burning questions in an Instagram Q&A and though he didn’t share many of the questions, one stood out. Or should we say, one response.
“When are you and Alana getting back together?!”, one fan penned.
Jason simply replied with a picture of himself flashing his peace fingers and captioning it: “Heaps of these ones… short and long answer is never.”
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work outside of the experiment,” Jason wrote on Instagram.
“Without outside influences I think we could have been an amazing couple but that wasn’t to be… maybe in the next lifetime hey. Alana is every bit the amazing woman Australia has seen and she deserves all the love and happiness in the world. As much as I wanted to give her that happiness I couldn’t. I’ll always have a place for you in my heart… Later crit.”
According to the So Dramatic! podcast, Jason ended things via text because of her reaction to the infamous video when the groom made homophobic and fatphobic comments about co-star, Liam Cooper.
“The reason Jason dumped Alana via text after the final vows was because she called him out for his ‘homophobic bulls**t’ and told him she didn’t agree with the video he made about Liam and it was not acceptable behaviour!”
Alana later confirmed this to Yahoo Lifestyle, explaining that she and Jason were “never able to get past that controversy.”
Though he seems to be single for now, Jason appears to have his eye on some other former MAFS brides.
The 35-year-old has been spotted leaving rather flirty messages on his co-star Georgia Fairweather and season seven bride KC Osborne’s Instagram photos.
After Georgia shared a snap of herself and KC, the MAFS groom penned: “Yeah my girls!!!!!” followed by the fire emoji.
When KC uploaded a girl group photo featuring Georgia and fellow co-star Kerry Knight, he cheekily wrote: “Dammmm who that bird on the right??” along with two heart-eye emojis, referring to the season seven star.
Alana is also single and happily told fans in her own Instagram Q&A that she currently isn’t dating.
“When it comes to dating, the biggest dealbreaker for me is if a guy tells me that his ex-girlfriend is a psycho,” she confessed to her followers.
“It’s always an indication that that guy is probably not very trustworthy.”
