Married at First Sight’s Jessika Power is finally lifting the lid on her long-standing feud with her estranged biological mother, Melinda Mackenzie. Last night, the controversial star was forced to speak publically about her traumatic past when she discovered her mum had sold a salacious story about her to Yahoo! Lifestyle earlier this week.
The 27-year-old— who had on-screen beef with contestants Cyrell Paule and Tamara Judge— took to Instagram to address the issue, admitting she was “devastated and inconsolable” when she found out her mother had leaked personal information about her in an exclusive interview with Yahoo.com.

“So this week I had my very own mother try to sell a story about me. As you all know I’ve remained silent on why she isn’t in my life out of the small shred of respect I had left for her and our relationship,” said Jess, who was married to Mick Gould and on the controversial Australian series. “As you can imagine I was completely devastated and inconsolable after hearing what she had done. This year has been a massive emotional roller-coaster for me but nothing could have prepared me for this.”
The furious message comes days after Melinda claimed she wasn’t invited to her daughter’s on-screen wedding because Jessika was “embarrassed” by her.
“That affected me more than anything because I would have wanted nothing more than to see my daughter walk down the aisle,” Jess’ mum said.
Having endured a considerable amount of trauma as a child, the outspoken star— who was raised by her aunt Rebecca— blames her mother’s alcohol and drug abuse for their dishevelled relationship.
My mother [while I was growing up] was a drug addict,” said the MAFS Australia star who still remains best friends with co-star Martha. “I helped her, the whole family helped her through it.”
The heartbreaking news comes days after Jessika urged her followers to quit accusing her brother Rhyce Power of domestic violence. The distressed star said she fears her brother will try and take his own life after he was “previously hospitalised following an earlier attempt”.
“As a loving sister who has watched my brother struggle with suicide [thoughts] for years, I will not sit beside a hospital bed again with him,” she wrote. “My brother has never been charged for these allegations made against him. I don’t condone everything [Rhyce] does… but enough is enough.”
“I know this post will offend many of you, but I love my family and I’m sick of watching my brother defend himself constantly. I am sure that anyone f you reading this and getting ready to ridicule or abuse me in my DM’s would do the exact thing in my position.”

Jessika went on to share her own experience, explaining that she lost her ex-boyfriend Eddy to suicide in 2017.
“I have lost a partner to suicide and I know how important mental health is to men. Please let this rest until the law has decided my brother is guilty.”
Whilst Married At First Sight was airing, Rhyce’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Sierra claimed he assaulted her while they were vacationing in Thailand.
