Thanking her ketogenic diet and strict exercise regime for shedding over 20 kilograms, the 2018 Married At First Sight participant— who was known as Foxy JoJo on the show and was partnered with TV groom Sean Donelley— said she’s worked hard to get back in shape and won’t stand for people trying to bring her down.
“I don’t give a toss about what people think I look like I am just me. Love me or hate me I’m just me. I have been dedicated, strict and everything mentally I wanted to be. That’s how I’m achieving my goals. No surgery, no major story to it. It’s been bloody hard work, mentally and emotionally,” she said during an Instagram Live video.
“Every single day I want a certain food, but I look at my two beautiful children and I want a better quality of life for everybody. I’ve stopped junk food, all of my carbs and the majority of alcohol. It’s a lifestyle change. I’ve been blessed with losing weight, but maintaining it is the hard part.”
The mum-of-two from Adelaide has been on a health journey for the past year and recently revealed how shedding a serious amount of weight has helped her feel more confident in her own skin.
“I used to absolutely HATE my arms,” the 42-year-old wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I would wear anything I could to cover them over even cardigans or jackets on a 43C day but I learnt last year in fact that no one actually cared what they looked like but me. No one ever criticised them or made a comment on how big they were but me.
“I was my own worst enemy. When I stopped and looked in the mirror I mean really looked in the mirror and said ‘stop being so harsh on yourself you are gorgeous inside and out’ that was the day that changed my life forever.”
As for how the Adelaide based fashion influencer shed the weight, Joe said she has the ketogenic diet to thank! The concept behind the diet is to put your body in a metabolic state of ketosis which raises ketone levels in the blood and causes the body to burn fat.
In addition to this, she’s been walking for 90 minutes per day and has been using an MM Slimming device which uses electromagnetism to stimulate muscles.
“I’m a little bit addicted! You sit there and it’s like 20,000 sit-ups in half an hour,” she said, posting a photo of herself using the machine. “As much as everyone is saying I’m skinny, I’m the same weight. I’ve just started to tone up, lose my bum and stomach. This machine is amazing.”
