If you’re a contestant on Married At First Sight, you can bet your past relationships will come out in the open – whether it was a one-night stand or a marriage.

But for 30-year-old occupational therapist Kerry Knight, who became a wife in her early twenties, her former marriage isn’t a sore spot for discussion.
“We were married for about two years but about a year in I started to feel that the mates side of it was stronger than the romantic connection,” the Queensland bride shared.
Though they were married for just shy of two years, Kerry and her ex were together for roughly seven years and maintain a close friendship.
“The divorce was probably one of the most amicable divorces in history,” Kerry revealed on MAFS.
“It was really important to both of us that we didn’t lose sight of still being mates at the end of it.”
However, the TV bride does recognise that their relationship isn’t your typical one for exes.
“It is a strange relationship, people still don’t quite understand it. My ex and I were still living together til recently.”
The former couple not only bought a house together but share two dogs and Kerry confessed to her new husband Johnny that it was her ex who was looking after them while she was on the show.
In fact, it was her ex who gave her the green light to go on MAFS!
“I made sure fairly early in the process that I had his blessing but he told me to go for gold,” Kerry told Woman’s Day.
“We’re still on really good terms.”
Kerry’s ex may still be in the picture but her new groom Johnny was blown away by his “incredible” bride on their wedding day.
“I seriously cannot wipe this smile off my face,” he admitted.
And the feeling was mutual with Kerry revealing she felt at ease as soon as she laid eyes on Johnny.
“He looks really kind. Checklist was a big smile, kind eyes and hopefully taller than I was and nailed all three so I’m stoked.”
Let’s see if the ex factor will be a hurdle for these two…
