"None of that was shown because that doesn't make good TV does it?"

Her on-screen husband Bryce Ruthven may have dominated the headlines when it came to their Married At First Sight experience (did someone say secret girlfriend?) but now Melissa Rawson has spoken out about her most scandalous storyline on the show regarding her ex.

Back when they were on the show, Melissa confessed to Bryce that she’d been “intimate” with her married ex-partner on and off for 12 years.

“My ex and I never got back together, however, over the years, he’s remained a friend and we’ve been intimate — up and until a year ago,” she said at the time.

However in the latest episode of her podcast What Happens After, the MAFS bride slammed the scene that was shown as “completely so falsely edited”.

“The snapshot that they put on TV was that I had been sleeping with an ex partner and at the time he was married,” Melissa recounted to guest and former MAFS contestant Dean Wells.

“What they didn’t show was the fact that I didn’t know he was married, I found out after, it wasn’t 12 years that we’d been sleeping together, it was once every few years on and off but I didn’t know about the wife he was with.

Melissa’s truth bomb comes just days after her emotional confession that her mental health is “not okay” as a result of the messages she’s received from certain women who have been sending threatening messages.

“I am frightened everyday. I fear opening my social media, to be approached suddenly on the street, fearing verbal abuse because of a recent post or comment made online,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“And I should not have these fears – not when there have been so many beautiful people who send sweet messages or comments and who have genuinely hugged me in the street out of sheer kindness. Enough is enough.”

2021 was the most successful year of MAFS yet with not just one but three couples still together today after the show.

Along with Bryce and Melissa, Patrick Dwyer and Belinda Vickers have remained a couple as have intruders Kerry Knight and Johnny Balbuziente.

“My relationship with Melissa is very different from anyone I’ve been with before. She has a calming effect on me and I really respect her opinion. I’m excited about our future,” Bryce told WHO in March 2021.

Melissa added: “I’m attracted to Bryce’s personality, his sense of humour and how accomplished he is. Even when we had those difficult conversations [about looks], he was also really complimentary and affectionate.”
