Some of the ridiculous behavior on Married at First Sight has fans wondering if it’s all just a pantomime, and today groom Mike is the latest in a long run of contestants on the show to confirm he is an actor.
Speaking to WHO, the 44-year-old confessed the truth about his professional background after previously having been identified in promotional materials simply as an electrician.
‘I don’t like to talk about it. But I did do the runway modelling thing overseas. I’ve done TV ads and I’ve done a bit of acting.
‘I’ve done some stuff here but nothing that hit the big time. A few short films a few various bits and pieces,’ he says.
Despite some fraught scenes with bride Heidi, Mike says it’s actually he who is treading carefully after a history of heartbreak. He reveals he was engaged at 21, and it ended in tears.
‘She promptly left me for a guy overseas,’ Mike explains. ‘I asked a girl to marry me and she said yes but I never had a ring, it wasn’t a serious engagement – we had a few drinks and were having a moment.
While it’s been decades, the break-up still plays on his mind. ‘
That girl, I really, really loved her. That was my first love, I think it was love. I thought about her night and day, and I thought she was wonderful and I don’t think I’ve met a girl like that since.’
