When Martha Kalifatidis met her on-screen husband Michael Brunelli at the altar, Married At First Sight fans were blown away by their romantic wedding. However, should Martha and Michael have another (legal) wedding, it definitely won’t look the same.

Speaking to Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald on the Shameless podcast, Martha revealed some behind-the-scenes facts about her big day including the fact that the decor was not to her liking.

“You have no say in anything,” the 32-year-old reality star said of the wedding planning process.

“You’re allowed to suggest some options. I said I wanted an outdoor wedding – really clean, and only white flowers. I wanted it all outdoor and only nature. And then on the day, it was at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne.

“I was like ‘What is this?’ I was having a tantrum to my mum, I was like ‘I’m going to look like a f***ing wogassorous and these coloured flowers, what are they? I’m not carrying them!’”

Martha then recounted the moment when she saw one of the show’s runners holding a colourful bunch of flowers as she arrived at her wedding along with her parents and producer.

“They opened the limousine door and gave me the flowers and I had a tantrum. I was ripping the flowers out of the bouquet and throwing them out the window and there was wire in the bouquet, like my hands were bleeding because I was ripping them out.

“I’m like ‘I don’t want these f***ing colourful flowers, this is going to look so bad, I’m not doing this!’”

The former MAFS bride went on to compare the Princess Theatre to the set of Beauty and the Beast.

“It’s so bad and so old and I was not happy about any of it,” Martha said of the venue.

However, Martha was able to choose her wedding dress, so long as it didn’t go over the $2000 budget, though it wasn’t her first option.

“I was such a nightmare because they wouldn’t approve anything I wanted to wear.”

Despite the wedding decor not being to her taste, Martha admitted on the podcast that she had no nerves about her big day and was super excited to meet her husband.

Though Michael wasn’t her type when she first laid eyes on him, the MAFS bride has explained that she feels they were meant to be together.

“I always say Michael and I meeting was like fate and I know it’s so cheesy because I hate saying cheesy s*** like that but I really think it is otherwise it doesn’t really make sense,” she confessed.

“I think we were going to meet no matter what. Michael actually in Melbourne lives five minutes away from my parents’ house. No matter what happened, in this lifetime we were going to meet and be together.”

Fast forward to now, Martha and Michael are still together two years on from filming the reality show.

To mark Valentine’s Day, Michael shared a series of photos and videos dedicated to his girlfriend where he shared “a couple of corny lines” professing his love for her.

“So I don’t often profess my love for you on social media… mainly because it makes people gag on their morning toast as they scroll. ⁣⁣But for once, I’ll drop a couple of corny lines about how much I love you. Because it’s a damn lot!⁣⁣” he joked in his caption.

“We literally spend every waking (and sleeping) second together and somehow I find myself loving you more every day.⁣⁣ You push me. You motivate me. You challenge me, and you don’t ever let me quit when s*** gets hard. For that I will be forever thankful. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support. ⁣”⁣⁣

He added: “You could say we have a relationship with the perfect balance of crazy and quiet, screaming and whispering, intensity and relaxation… but the most important thing is that we bring out the absolute best in each other, and that’s why we grow stronger every day!⁣⁣ That’s enough sap for now…. The rest I’ll whisper into your ear trying to get lucky tonight…⁣”
