The MasterChef kitchen is no stranger to high pressure, but Tuesday night’s service challenge raised the temperature to a whole new level. Fans finally got the showdown they’d been begging for: a fiery, head-to-head battle between judges Andy Allen and Jean-Christophe Novelli. But when Novelli stepped out in his crisp, professional chef whites, the focus instantly shifted from the food to the Frenchman.
The internet absolutely melted. Even co-judge Andy Allen couldn’t help but voice what everyone at home was thinking, blurting out that the legendary French chef looked “so sexy” in his uniform.
For Novelli—affectionately dubbed “JC” by the fandom—the overwhelming wave of digital thirst was the last thing he expected.
Jean-Christophe Novelli says fan response is ‘crazy’
Speaking to WHO, Novelli shared his surprise, “It’s crazy to me, but it’s kind and supportive too.”
He elaborated, “I don’t think of myself as vain, but is there an element of vanity when you dream big? Probably, yes, along with all the other more important factors which contribute to help you visualise where you want to be, to help manifest your dreams.

“Especially, when you’re exhausted, to keep pushing, pushing harder than ever you thought yourself capable of to achieve your ambitions, you need everything you have in your artillery because when it feels too overwhelming or difficult, it’s only that drive you reach in deep and pull from within that will ultimately prevent you from giving up.”
Speaking of being a young chef, working to make a name for himself, Novelli noted, “And the only reflection I remember seeing in the mirror was an abundance of constant passion and energy, and that’s what kept me going.”
MasterChef fans gush about Jean-Christophe Novelli
While JC was busy reflecting on a lifetime of hard work, MasterChef fans were busy flooding social media with pure adoration. The excitement had been building all week, with one Reddit user cheering ahead of the episode, “Finally, a service challenge. And with JC in chef whites. The week just gets better.”

“And he turns up in chef whites, JC, why you doing this to us?” another fan questioned, with a third responding, “He’s such a sexy boi (sic).”
“Unimaginable amount of thirst projected,” one fan joked ahead of the episode.
MasterChef later asked on social media: If you were cooking in the service challenge, whose team would you want to be on?
The results weren’t even close. Novelli won by a landslide.
“Always @jeanchristophe_novelli,” one fan commented. “He is the best part of Masterchef Australia.”
“Definitely Jean-Christophe… encouraging, full of humour and ohhh so joyful,” another said.
“Jean-Christophe is superior in every way – a Michelin Star Restaurant Chef,” yet another echoed. “Just brilliant and such a beautiful person.”
