Actor Matt Le Nevez tells WHO that since welcoming his son Levi in 2014, his perspective has changed for the better.
“Fatherhood can’t help but change everything,” says Le Nevez, 37. “It changed so many aspects of my life – from that split second, nothing was quite the same.”
Which has only made his involvement in TV series like Nine’s recently returned drama Love Child and Foxtel’s new mystery The Kettering Incident, the latter of which revolves around the strange disappearance of a young girl, that much more poignant.
“When you’re involved in a show that has children, or deals with the loss of a child, it gives [what you’re performing] a deeper meaning. I’m able to call even more on that emotional side of myself.”
Le Nevez spent months in Tasmania filming Kettering, and was able to bring partner Michelle Smith and their bub along with him for a good stretch of the time. One thing that was missing? His beloved motorbike.
“It was in Sydney at a mate’s farm,” says Le Nevez, who will appear as a different kind of driver—Aussie racing legend Peter Brock—in Seven’s upcoming miniseries Brock. “And I’m building a Harley over in LA”—where he lives—“so I didn’t have it. Which was a little frustrating … Tasmania would have been the perfect place to ride around!”
