We are counting down the days until Married At First Sight 2021 hits our screens, and after a recent post from expert Mel Schilling, we’re expecting big things.

Taking to Instagram, the 48-year-old relationship guru shared a black and white image of herself with her fellow MAFS experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla, the latter of whom is replacing Dr Trisha Stratford.

And whilst her caption mainly spoke about the importance of work wives and husbands, Mel did drop a hint that the upcoming season of the controversial social experiment will be “game-changing.”

“Do you have a WORK SPOUSE?” Mel asked.

“Meet my #WORKWIFE @alessarampolla and #WORKHUSBAND @johnaikenlive – we are having a ball, working #BTS to bring you a game-changing #MAFS next year.” ⠀

Fans had their first look at the 2021 season of Married At First Sight after the Nine Network shared a sneak peek of the shows hitting screens in the new year.

In the trailer, we see a handful of the brides and grooms looking for love as they prepare to meet their partner at the end of the aisle.

“Oh my god this is actually happening!” one excited bride says in a voiceover.

Mel herself can be heard at the beginning of the clip, saying: “You’re going to have to give this everything you’ve got.”

Whilst we don’t know too many details about this year’s contestants just yet, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that there seems to be more of a “celebrity twist” in 2021.

According to The Wash, contestants include rock star Booka Nile, AFL player Jake Edwards, TV host Georgia Fairweather and Canberra radio host Bryce Ruthven.

Earlier this year, the series came under fire after fans claimed the show’s contestants were on the show for fame rather than to find love. However, Nine has promised that the upcoming season season will be “genuine” and about “love not fame.”

The 2020 season’s track record wasn’t great – only Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus are still together.

Mel has been a fan favourite for her warm and thoughtful personality on the show, but when asked by Stellar magazine if she’d ever be a contestant, it was a hard pass.

“No way!” she told the publication.

“I really admire the way they put themselves out there and take a very public chance on love…I wouldn’t have the gumption!”

Since she’s been married to husband Gareth Brisbane since 2018, we doubt she’s keen to get back out there and date anyway!
