Broken-hearted last year following the end of her 19-year marriage to artist Adrian Lewinski, Meshel Laurie would “save up my crying until the kids were in bed,” the TV and radio personality tells WHO. Googling as she wept, the long-time Buddhist couldn’t find the self-help guide she was looking for, so she wrote it herself: Buddhism for Break-ups (Nero, $29.99).
Writing her book was “therapeutic,” says Laurie, 44, who reflects that the gruelling IVF process the couple underwent to conceive their twins—Louie and daughter Dali, 7—took its toll on the marriage: “It ended it, really and truly.”

Today, the pair share custody of Louie and Dali in Melbourne, and are “very good friends,” says Laurie, who credits Buddhism with helping her heal: “Nothing else helped.”
