Miley Cyrus has opened up about the reason why she split with Liam Hemsworth in 2013.
In a new interview on The Howard Stern Show, the ‘Malibu’ singer said she ‘had to’ break up with Hemsworth when they called off their engagement four years ago.
“I had to. I don’t like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole…so, I don’t think that I have that codependency,” she said.
The 24-year-old said she things it’s ‘awesome’ when people break up and get back together.
“You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being,” Cyrus explained.
Cyrus and Hemsworth have since rekindled their romance and live together in Malibu where she wrote her hit song of the same name.
