Arriving by private jet and flanked by security, Aussie model Miranda Kerr went quietly unnoticed as she slipped back into Sydney almost three weeks ago.

The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper reported on November 14 that the US-based Kora Organics skincare founder was on a “mercy dash” to see her family after an elderly relative fell “gravely ill”.
The devastating news was sure to come as a blow for Kerr, 37, who’s been separated from her Australian relatives, including her grandmother Ann, parents Therese and John and younger brother Matt, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, an undisclosed family emergency meant Kerr quickly returned to Australia with her sons Flynn, 9, Hart, 2, and 13-month-old Myles, leaving behind the extravagant life she shares with her second husband, Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel, 30, at their $16 million Brentwood mansion in California.
The successful entrepreneur’s life today is totally unrecognisable from the one she had while growing up in the country town of Gunnedah in New South Wales. Kerr found fame at age 13 after entering and winning Dolly magazine’s annual Model Search competition in 1997.
These days, Kerr – who has consistently ranked on Forbes’ list of the world’s highest earning models since 2008 – and her tech-savvy husband have a combined estimated wealth of $10 billion.
Despite their prosperity, the couple are striving to give the boys a relatively normal upbringing.
“Flynn understands that when it comes to books, [we] can buy as many as he’d like, but toys are only for special occasions, like a birthday or Christmas,” Kerr told InStyle earlier this year.
Though raising three boys (Kerr co-parents Flynn with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom) isn’t easy, and the model admits she relies on a full-time nanny to help out.
“She still does five days a week and has the weekends off. So it’s just us on the weekends. With three kids, it’s a lot,” Kerr told lifestyle website Now To Love back in May.
Despite her success and busy life, Kerr has also admitted her husband prefers they have a “very traditional” relationship, meaning she takes care of much of the cooking and cleaning. She famously admitted to spending much of her May 2017 wedding day cooking her new husband a roast chicken.
And while Kerr used to slip in and out of Australia to visit her family a few times a year, this has been complicated by the pandemic – and her marriage to the notoriously secretive and security-conscious tech giant. (News website Business Insider reported that Spiegel spent over $1.22 million on security in 2016, and insists on the usage of private aircraft for personal travel.)
Kerr, who boasts more than 12 million followers on Instagram, has also been forced to change her social media habits.
While she used to regularly share images of herself with Flynn, her youngest kids have remained completely off limits on the platform.
Despite the restrictions, Kerr insisted to WHO’s sister publication People that she loves her life. “I couldn’t be happier, and I feel very grateful and very blessed.”
