What is Sense and Sensibility about?

Sense and Sensibility was Jane Austen’s first novel and was first adapted in 1995 with Emma Thompson starring as Elinor, Kate Winslet as Marianne, Hugh Grant as Edward Ferrars and Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon.

The romance is all about heartbreak, scandals and sisterhood as the story follows Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, two sisters who are left to deal with the grief of their father’s death.

With no fortune to inherit, they must rely on their wits (and love interests) to survive.

When love, betrayal and some surprising twists come into the picture, the sisters are pushed to grow in ways they had never expected.
