The passionate romance between Heathcliff and Catherine may have taken over pop culture thanks to the wonderfully kooky world of Kate Bush, but if you still haven’t delved deeper into the story of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, you’re missing out.

What is Wuthering Heights about?

For those who haven’t read the book (we know, it’s a lot to take in), Wuthering Heights is a deep dive into a passionate, tragic love story. The film follows the intense relationship between Heathcliff, an orphan raised by the Earnshaw family, and Catherine Earnshaw, his childhood companion.

Their love story is intense, fiery, and… seriously dysfunctional, to say the least, and when Catherine marries another man, Heathcliff’s jealousy and obsession spiral out of control, leading to devastating consequences for everyone involved.

Who is the cast of the Wuthering Heights movie?

Aussies – this one is for us. After a year of rumours surrounding who will portray the iconic characters, Australian stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi were officially confirmed to be leading the film as Catherine and Heathcliff in the upcoming film adaptation.

The film is directed by Emerald Fennell, who quickly became a household name as the director and writer of Jacob’s most recent box office hit Saltburn. Emerald also recently worked alongside Margot in Barbie – stepping from behind the camera to portray Barbie’s pregnant neighbour Midge.

Also joining the cast is The Whale’s Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Saltburn star Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton, and Penny Dreadful’s Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton.

While news surrounding the remainder of the cast is still a closely guarded secret, fans were treated to their first glimpse of Margot and Jacob on Valentine’s Day, albeit only a shot of the bottom half of the Barbie star’s face.
