The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has a pretty storied romantic past. It’s not rare for him to debut a new relationship, but Australians have had their ears pricking up at the mention he might now be dating one of our own.
Elon was caught cosying up to Natasha Bassett, an Australian actress from Sydney.
The 27-year-old was seen lunching with Elon, who is 50, at the Cheval Blanc hotel in the French coastal town of St. Tropez.
It’s been reported that the pair began dating back in February, but have kept a reasonably low profile since beginning their relationship.
They also apparently attended several events together recently at Cannes Film Festival, where Natasha’s new film, Elvis, was premiering.

Who is Natasha Bassett?
Natasha is a US-based actress who grew up in Sydney, where she proved early on that she had plenty of acting prowess.
She appeared in the Australian Theatre for Young People’s 2007 production of Romeo and Juliet, and starred in a number of local projects in the early 2010s, even working opposite Toni Collette.
She moved to New York at the age of 19 to further pursue her acting career.
She’s had a number of small roles in different feature films since then, but looks set to become more well-known once Baz Lurhmann’s new biopic, Elvis, premieres this year.
In the film she portrays Dixie Locke, Elvis’s first girlfriend. She’ll be acting opposite the likes of Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, and Olivia De Jonge in the film.
How long has Natasha been dating Elon?
The general consensus is that they got together in early 2022. Although Elon had separated from his previous partner, Canadian musician Grimes, they were still living together as of October 2021.
A source who spoke to HollywoodLife confirmed they “have only been dating for a couple of months, but they are already in a monogamous relationship”.
“They are very much into each other and have been spending a tremendous amount of time together,” the source continued.
What happened to Elon Musk and Grimes?
Before Natasha, Elon was in a relationship with Grimes, who is the mother of his two youngest children.
Grimes confirmed her first pregnancy in January 2020, but didn’t announce that Elon was the father until a few months later, despite their two-year relationship
Controversially, the pair named the child X Æ A-12, which turned into one of the biggest celebrity stories of the year.
The pair had a few ups and downs across their relationship, especially when Grimes had to step in to defend her man over things he said on Twitter, especially when he was accused of being a ‘men’s rights activist’.
Despite Grimes’ ongoing support, the pair called it quits in September of 2021.
“[We] still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” he said in a public statement.
And the other baby?
In another controversial move, it turned out that Elon and Grimes had a second child together in secret, this time via surrogate.
The songstress revealed the news accidentally in an interview with Vanity Fair, when journalist Devin Gordon heard her baby crying while visiting her house for the chat.
“Whatever is going on with family stuff, I just feel like the kids need to stay out of it, and X is just out there,” she said.
“I mean, I think E is really seeing him as a protégé and bringing him to everything and stuff… is out there. His situation is like that. But, yeah, I don’t know,” she said of her attempts to keep the child – a little girl called Exa Dark Sideræl – a secret.
Naturally, she was also asked if she and Elon were still together.
“There’s no real word for it,” she said.
“I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time … we just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”
However, she later confirmed once the profile was released that they were no longer together, likely because Elon had taken up with Natasha!
