If you’re a fan of Heated Rivalry (who isn’t?) then you will know Rachel Reid’s third book is in the making.
UNRIVALED will mark the finale in the series of books that follow the love story between Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander.
However, sharing the news that her Parkinson’s disease is beginning to slow her down, the author revealed the book’s release date has been postponed from 2026 to 2027.
When is UNRIVALED out?
Reid initially gave fans a date of September 29, 2026, for the book’s release. However she has now postponed the date to 2027.
The author shared the news to her Instagram, saying: “When good things happen, sometimes the universe hands you some worse stuff to balance it out. For me, that’s been that my Parkinson’s symptoms have gotten a bit worse, and it’s made it difficult physically to write. So I’m definitely a lot slower, and that’s just something I need to learn how to navigate.”

What is the third Heated Rivalry book about?
In the third and final book, the hockey players turned lovers will have “nothing to hide” for the first time.
As per Barnes & Nobel’s description UNRIVALED: “For more than a decade, they kept their love a secret, but now they’re out, married, and even playing on the same team. The support is incredible. Most of the time,”

Will it be adapted to screen?
Although they haven’t come out and said yes publicly, lead stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams’ contract takes them through three seasons… and this is conveniently the third book in their series.
What’s the order of the Game Changers books?
Although Rachel Reid has written seven books based on queer hockey romances, only two (soon to be three) of them focus on Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander’s love story: Heated Rivalry and The Long Game.
