Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins has left his Bachelor days behind him and is happily coupled up with girlfriend Alex George. But now, the couple have taken an exciting new step in their relationship.
Taking to Instagram on Monday evening, the 33-year-old former rugby player who infamously chose no one on his season of The Bachelor, shared an adorable photo of himself cuddling a puppy on the beach.
“250,000 healthy but unwanted dogs and cats are put down in Australian municipal pounds each year. Meet Dougie. He’s a rescue dog and a legend! Welcome to the family, mate. #adoptdontshop,” he captioned the post.
Just a few days before, Alex shared her own photo of the pup captioning it: “Little Douglas you melt our hearts.”
Fans praised Nick for promoting the message of adopting pets rather than buying from unethical breeders and of course, gushed over how adorable Dougie is.
“OMGOODNESS 🙌 Dougie is as gorgeous as you Nick … a definite fit to a good family,” one remarked.
“So pleased to see Dougie go to a safe, loving and permanent home. Thank you, Nick and Alex,” animal rescue charity Southern Downs ARK penned.
One even hinted that this is only the beginning for Nick and Alex as they expand their family.
“That’s the start ! A pup and then kids!!” they wrote.
Nick and Alex have been publicly dating since January 2021 and seem to be more in love with each day.
In March, Alex shared two romantic photos of herself and the former Bachelor and captioned them: “Doesn’t get much better.”
“What a stunning couple!” one fan exclaimed.
“Daw stop it mum and dad,” joked another.
The couple were first rumoured to be an item in June last year when the Daily Telegraph reported that the couple spent lockdown with each other in Seal Rocks, on the mid-north coast of New South Wales.
Friends of the couple have reportedly said Nick and his leading lady met during a trip to the Kimberley region in Western Australia in 2020. Nick is even featured in an Instagram post of Alex’s that marks one year since the group of friends went on the expedition.
