The birth of baby Méi June (Méi pronounced May and meaning “plum”
in Chinese) was a huge celebration for the celebrity couple after the tumultuous
few years they have been through.

In April 2023, the Newsroom actress
was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer which saw her face four surgeries, a double mastectomy and medically induced menopause.

She was able to go through egg retrieval before her cancer treatment, but wasn’t able to fall pregnant with her daughter herself.

“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” the 44-year-old wrote on Instagram.

“When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew
I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

She added that baby Méi was born in the Chinese year of the dragon, writing, “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded.”

Always the funnyman, Mulaney posted, “We stole so much stuff from the hospital,” but added, “I love my little girl so much.”

On Oct.3, Munn took to social media again to share a poignant message about her journey and a plea to others.

“This time last year I was recovering from my fourth surgery and now I’m hanging with my baby girl,” she wrote.🥹💕

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month just started. Last year I was diagnosed with bilateral Luminal B breast cancer. There were many people integral to saving my life but it was my OB-GYN @drthaisaliabadi who set me on the path to survival. She used the Tyrer-Cuzick Risk Assessment Test to calculate my risk of getting breast cancer. My high score led me down a road of many tests that resulted in a cancer diagnosis.”

Munn went on to explain a bit more about the free, online test.

“To everyone who is battling or has battled cancer, in whatever form, I send you all my love,” she concluded.

The happy news comes after Munn and Mulaney, 42, married in an intimate New York ceremony in July 2024.

Only their 2-year-old son, Malcolm, and a witness were in attendance, perhaps a nod to the very private journey they’ve faced together.

“Olivia and I have been through a lot of things together in the past couple years,” Mulaney told Vogue.

“Just side-by-side, supporting each other through anything.”

In April 2024, Munn told People that Mulaney has been a “hands-on father” amid her health battle.

“It would’ve felt like climbing an iceberg without him,” she said.

“I don’t think he had a moment to himself, between being an incredibly hands-on father and going to and from the hospital—taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me. And he did it all happily.”
