You already know Rami Malek from his recent Oscar-winning performance as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
And while the L.A.-born star showed his vocal talents in the movie, the 37-year-old actor is set to seduce us with his own dulcet tones in a new project.
The Best Actor Oscar winner is starring in and has executive produced, an eight-episode podcast series called Blackout.
The audio drama is set in a small town in New Hampshire where a radio DJ (Rami Malek) fights to protect his family and community after the power grid goes down nationwide, upending everything and causing chaos.
With last night’s Sydney storms causing short-term chaos, image what would happen if an outage of this scale actually happened…
“This is a hyper-realistic story of what would unfold should the grid go down; how we would be totally unprepared to deal with the repercussions,” Rami told Entertainment Weekly.
Having just listened to the trailer, we’re frothing at what’s coming next from the actor, and it’s safe to say Rami’s voice certainly lends itself to such an intimate medium as podcasting.
The suspense-filled thriller is available to download from iTunes on March 19 when the first two episodes will go live. And by the sound of things, we’re sure we’re going to be hooked.
