There’s no-one like your bestie to give you straight-up advice on your latest squeeze.

So it made sense that Matt called in his mate Kate to suss out the ladies that are left in the mansion and give some suggestions as to who should get a rose

And the verdict was… kind of what we would’ve expected.

She loved Elly Miles

(Duh, who doesn’t?)

Elly got a rose.

(Again, duh.)

She didn’t have much to say about Sogand Mohtat or Cassandra Mamone.

But she had a few things to say about controversial contestant Abbie Chatfield

“Abbie seems lovely but she said in one sentence that marriage isn’t necessarily the be all and end all for her, and then in another part of the conversation was that she’d be ready in five years,” she told Matt during their debrief.

“I think she’s saying what you want to hear.”

Oooooh awky…

Throw in the fact that Sogand also told Kate how she feels about Abbie (hint: it’s not good), and the 23-year-old was definitely in the best friend’s line of fire.

Matt was, understandably, shook.

It’s a bit of a bombshell, to be honest.”

But is it enough to get Abbie – who’s been at the centre of basically every drama we’ve seen so far this season – sent home?

While, of course, I value Kate’s opinion, I know what Abbie and I have,” revealed Matt, “and I’m not sure that I’m ready to throw that all away.”

A point he proved later in the night when – despite everyone’s assumption that Abbie would be booted from the mansion – he gave the blonde bombshell a rose, sending Cassandra Mamone home instead.

The shock elimination came on the back of a particularly drama-filled group date and subsequent cocktail party, during which Sogand and Abbie had it out – yet again.

All I said to [Kate] was I thought you had different intentions to what you’re showing in front of Matt,” an incredibly not-fussed-in-the-slightest Sogand told Abbie, who was flashing wounded-puppy-dog eyes.

“You didn’t want to get married and have kids. All of a sudden, you do want to get married, you do want to have kids. And you change your personality in front of Matt…”

Obviously, Abbie was pretty unhappy about Sogand’s assessment of her.

“It feels as though Sogand is just trying to sabotage me, to be honest. She doesn’t want me anywhere near Matt. She doesn’t want Matt to like me ’cause she thinks I’m a threat.

“Oh, it’s exhausting.”
