Despite being late-entry bombshells, these two wasted no time getting serious—and everyone quickly became obsessed with their too-perfect-to-be-true connection. But the fan vote doesn’t lie, and Em and Mercedes are officially the season’s winners after a nail-biting finale.

Although Em and Mercedes took out the win on the pre-recorded season, fans may be surprised to know the couple themselves didn’t know they were the winners until tonight! Confused? Let’s break it down.
While this season of Love Island is pre-filmed, the finale was similar to last year’s format, where all the final couples record alternative endings. Translation? Every pair has to fake their we’ve-just-won-the-money moment, only to wait with the rest of us for the live fan vote to reveal the real winners.
Although Em and Mercedes may have won the season – it doesn’t mean fan theories about Kaylah and Eric were completely unfounded.
Eagle-eyed viewers noticed both of them reading the same book on Instagram after leaving the villa (ahem, cute much?), sparking rumours they’re still together. And if that wasn’t enough, Kaylah even mentioned in an interview that she’s “still with her beau.” Not exactly subtle! So whilst they may have not won the show – that doesn’t mean they haven’t stayed together for a post-villa romance.
