Sophie Monk teases exciting love triangle

Monk knows reality TV and has been on both sides of the production process throughout her career.

So, we don’t take her word lightly when she says season eight of Love Island Australia is “the most amazing reality television [she’s] ever seen in [her] whole life”.

“I don’t know what happened,” the host told WHO. “I don’t know whether it was because it’s in the Fiji US Villa or what, just everything clicked to make the most amazing reality television I’ve ever seen ever my whole life and I’ve been on both sides.

“It’s so good they’re struggling to cut it down. You know usually they’re trying to pad to make more episodes, [but] we’ve had to add two more episodes because it’s just so full.”

Monk doesn’t just think this will be the best season yet, she believes it will be the best of all of Love Island shows.

“I even think globally, this is just going to be ridiculous,” she said. “It’s going to get that viral moment.

“It’s got the best love triangle I’ve ever seen in anything ever. I just like it gives me butterflies like I can’t wait for it to end.”

The 2026 season is moving away from the ‘villain’ edit

Monk also reflected on how Love Island has become a “global sensation” and what that has meant for her life, and this upcoming season.

“Love Island is so cool internationally,” she said. “If I go anywhere and say I’m the Love Island host, people treat me differently.

“I’m like, ‘Yes I’m like the Ariana Madix (host of Love USA) of Australia’.'”

This season is also not going to be about the “villains”.

“It’s not about to make villains at all, that’s just not its thing,” the reality star added. “It’s very primal and about relationships and trying to find love and the dramas and we test them.

“So yeah, there are no villains needed. [The cast] came in just so trusting, and it was just insane. There’s a lot of love in there, but it’s just unpredictable.”
