While many fans are focused on which couples will make it to final vows and beyond, a growing number of viewers are already thinking about the 2026 season – and if it will air at all.

Taking to MAFS fan pages across Facebook, numerous rumours have been swirling about the fate of the experimental dating show, with many predicting the current season may be the last.

Why do fans think MAFS will be cancelled?

Hundreds of comments on one Facebook thread saw audiences agree that they were disappointed with this year’s contestants.

Pointing out how many of this year’s brides and grooms have previously appeared on other reality shows, many criticised the authenticity of the season.

“Yes [it should be cancelled], or go back to what the show should actually be about. Couples looking for love rather than looking for fame,” one fan commented.

“No more actors or influencers,” agreed another. “I wish they would just match up everyday people!”

Has Married At First Sight Australia been cancelled?

While many were quick to agree that it was time for the show to come to an end, others pointed out a 2026 season was likely since the network was already in the process of casting.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a casting call posted by Nine ten days ago on their site, which detailed how individuals could apply for season 13 of the reality television show.

Married At First Sight is back in 2026 and is currently on the search for participants of all ages and backgrounds who are genuinely committed to finding love,” the call-out explained.” If you are genuine about finding love and can commit up to four months of your life to the experiment (between late July – November 2025), then apply now here.”
