My Kitchen Rules 2026 has started hot and heavy with the drama, with a walk-out already taking place in episode two. While the show is known for its chaotic contestants, this season has served up a ‘clash of the classes’ that has been dividing fans at home.
Despite some stress still taking place in the kitchen, this ‘class war’ has been the main event at every Instant Restaurant so far, with the stylish couple, Jane and Shane, and the “boganic besties from Adelaide”, Alisha and Deanne, at the centre.
This clash of class and chaos hit an all-time high during Angus and Simon’s Instant Restaurant — a gastro-pub cheekily labelled ‘Last Orders’, inspired by Angus’ job as a funeral director — when a few word mispronunciations and a conversation about travel led to Alisha storming off.
Speaking to WHO, Alisha and Deanne said that they’re more than happy to be pulled up on mistakes and aren’t afraid to ask questions. However, they can only take so much judgement before hitting their breaking point.
Alisha’s walk-out looked to be caused by an argument about whether to say “acid” or “acidic”, but the contestant confessed that there was much more happening beneath the surface.
Why did Deanne walk out during Angus and Simon’s instant restaurant?
During Angus and Simon’s gastro-pub themed restaurant, many of the other contestants laughed as Alisha and Deanne mispronounced some of the menu items, like Gochujang or saying ‘napoleon sauce’ instead of neapolitan sauce.
Tiffany — from the loved-up couple Tiffany and Giancarlo — and Jane also bonded over their belief that you need to travel to be a good cook, gushing over their trips to Sicily’s Taormina, to which Alisha and Deanne (and everyone watching at home) rolled their eyes.
However, when Tiffany mentioned that she wanted more “acid” in the salad, Alisha questioned her choice of words, asking if she meant to say “acidity”. While she expected everyone else to agree, the other contestants seemed to be on Tiffany’s side, saying both phrasings work, after which Alisha walked out.
“I was happy to ask questions when I felt I didn’t know things or to be pulled up on things,” Alisha told WHO. “Little things [that were] trying to make it seem like we were really just dumb and had no idea — I can take it for a while.
“At the end of the day, I didn’t know what certain things were, so I’m happy to say.
“But then, when I pulled someone else up on something, where I’m like, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t agree that you’re putting acid in a salad’, and then for Colin to back the other contestants on that and make me feel, yet again, like an imbecile, I was like, ‘I’m done’.”
However, the main reason Alisha decided to walk out wasn’t for her ego, but her kids.
“I’m not here to show my kids that their mum’s on TV and is just an absolute idiot. I’m not an idiot,” she said.
Did Colin and Manu take Deanne’s side?
Despite feeling let down by Colin at the dinner table, Alisha appreciated that he came out to check on her after she stormed out. She also appreciated the way Manu handled the situation.
“I didn’t even actually expect [Colin] to come out,” Alisha said. “I was just feeling quite heated at that time when he came out. But it was nice of him to make that effort.
“I think the biggest thing about that night was when Manu pulled [Angus and Simon] up and said, ‘I would have used a bit more acidity in there’, and then gave me a little wink. I was like, ‘Someone’s got my back here.'”
